News That
Doesn’t Suck.

Visual news explainers with the evidence close by. A little light. A lot less heat.

Our purpose

Help first.
Then inform.
Then entertain.

News That Doesn’t Suck helps you understand what a headline means, where its evidence comes from and what you can do with that understanding.

We use interactive graphics and plain language to explain relationships that are easy to miss: the order of a count, the stage of a proposal, the scale of a number and the origin of a claim.

The Morning Candle is a finite edition. Read enough to understand, then go live your life.

What to expect.

Is this live news or election-result coverage?

The public beta contains educational explainers with sourced process references and explicitly illustrative models. It does not report live races or certify election results. Your official election office is the starting point for actual voting information.

Where can I check the original sources?

Each story’s “How we know” section connects claims to source records and explains their scope and limits. The evidence explorer connects those records across stories.

How is AI used?

AI assisted source discovery, extraction, drafting, models and implementation. The candle artwork is labeled AI-generated illustration. It is not evidence of a real event. Human editorial review of the educational drafts is pending.

How do you handle bias and corrections?

We examine framing, omissions, institutional perspective and documented conflicts. Missing evidence stays unresolved. Material evidence changes reopen dependent explanations and reviews, with a retained revision record. Our method describes the review requirements for published reporting.
