Capitol Reef National Park, Utah: October 28 orchard update and separately dated October 27 road-condition table. Named orchard access is not an all-road or all-orchard clearance, and the record is a dated snapshot. Cards compare record types and decisions, not a universal sequence, measured duration or shared quantitative scale. Each number retains its own unit, period and population.

The reporting question: What reopened at Capitol Reef today, and what still needs a separate road check?
What changed today
The park’s October 28 update names the Kreuger and Chesnut orchards as open for harvest. It does not say every orchard is open or guarantee how much fruit remains. [1]
Keep the purchase units clear
The notice lists $2 per pound and $30 per 50-pound bushel. Those are different purchase units, not two prices for an identical bag. Leave research markers and materials undisturbed, as the park requests. [2]
An orchard opening does not clear a road
The October 27 table still lists Capitol Gorge and Pleasant Creek closed. Scenic Drive and Grand Wash are listed as 2WD, while several Waterpocket routes remain unknown and likely impassable. A named orchard’s reopening cannot establish backcountry access. [3]
Check again before travelling
Use the park’s current conditions page and automated information line at 435-425-3791. The listed path is option 1, then 4 for roads or 5 for orchards. We have not called it; NPS says the line is more current than the weekly road webpage. [4]
