Grand Canyon reopens trail sections; bridges and inner-canyon water stay closed
NPS has reopened South Kaibab below The Tipoff, River Trail and Bright Angel between Mile-and-a-Half Resthouse and Havasupai Gardens to hikers. Black and Silver bridges, Phantom Ranch and North Kaibab remain closed. Inner-canyon water is off; the reopening does not establish a through-route. [1] [2] [3]

Understand the story.
What reopened
NPS’s October 26 announcement confirms repairs allowed hikers back onto named South Kaibab, River and Bright Angel sections. The Bright Angel segment remains closed to stock while repairs continue. This is a partial reopening. [1]
An endpoint is not a crossing
The current route list runs South Kaibab to Black Bridge, but the bridge itself remains closed. Silver Bridge, Phantom Ranch and all North Kaibab are closed too. An open approach does not establish a river crossing or rim-to-rim trip. [2]
Plan water and time separately
NPS lists all inner-canyon water as off. Hikers must carry suitable supplies and treatment options; that does not prove a natural source is available on a particular route. Work can interrupt travel, and rescue is not guaranteed. [3] [4]
Recheck before setting out
Use the park’s Key Hiking Messages for exact endpoints, water and closures immediately before a trip. Follow posted signs and crew instructions. This October 27 check cannot guarantee the conditions you will encounter later. [1] [3] [4]
