No: NPS says Mineral King Road closed for winter on October 28. The park gives a separate wilderness-permit kiosk location behind the Foothills Visitor Center. A permit does not reopen the road, and the notice does not close the whole park. [1] [2]

The reporting question: Can you still drive into Mineral King, and where does the park direct wilderness visitors?
The change is already in effect
The NPS condition page records an October 28 seasonal closure for Mineral King Road. A trip that depends on driving into this area now needs a different plan; do not treat a general Sequoia destination as proof this particular road is available. [1]
Separate the road, facilities and permit office
The Mineral King ranger station and area campgrounds are also listed as seasonally closed. For self-issued wilderness permits, the park names a kiosk behind the Foothills Visitor Center and says that location is not on Mineral King Road. Those are different access questions, so completing one does not answer the others. [3] [2]
Recheck before the next trip
NPS describes a usual reopening around Memorial Day, without confirming a future opening. Use the current-conditions page and its road-status links for your exact destination. Weather, route suitability and facilities still need their own current check; this October 29 account is not a travel clearance. [4] [1] [2]
