NPS reports restored access between mileposts 135 and 159, while its status table extends the reopening to 159.5. A separate 159–165 detour is planned for November 2. Cyclists are told to arrange transport because that detour is unsuitable for bicycles. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The reporting question: Which Natchez Trace stretch reopened, and where do cyclists need another plan?
A useful stretch returns
The October 30 NPS announcement restores access to a long section of the Mississippi parkway after reconstruction. The release identifies mileposts 135–159. The current conditions table also calls the stretch reopened, but places the northern endpoint at 159.5. Both are agency records; this reporting did not inspect the pavement. [1] [2]
The next restriction is separate
The next planned detour is between mileposts 159 and 165, starting November 2. NPS expects work through March 2027. Those are plans and estimates, not a closure already observed or a promised finishing day. A reopened segment does not mean the entire parkway is clear. [3] [2]
Cyclists need a different solution
NPS explicitly says the detour is unsuitable for bicycles and tells riders to arrange transportation around the closed section. Do not improvise a cycle route from a motor-vehicle detour. Use the official road-status page and its conditions maps before leaving; transport options have not been verified here. [4] [3]
