New North Carolina Senate notices list $24,500 and $10,000—not whole campaign totals

Two October 25 notices list $24,500 for Roy Cooper’s committee and $10,000 for Michael Whatley’s. These limited receipt lists help voters inspect campaign support; they cannot rank the four candidates’ overall resources. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Understand the story.

New disclosures, earlier receipts

NTDS read both new October 25 notices: nine listed receipts for Cooper’s committee and five for Whatley’s, all dated October 23. Their sums describe those documents alone. Different page counts or later retrieval times cannot establish a fundraising lead. [1] [2]

Why a notice is only a slice

A Form 6 flags qualifying last-minute receipts, not cash on hand or every contribution. FEC guidance sets a $1,000 threshold and a specific pre-election window. The receipts appear again in regular reports, so adding both would double-count them. [3]

Give every ballot candidate the same check

The official ballot also lists Green candidate Michael Dublin and Libertarian Shannon W. Bray. Matched FEC searches found no October 24–25 notice for Dublin’s identified committee and no returned 2026 filings for Bray’s two identified committees. Neither result proves zero funding. [4]

The power behind the paperwork

North Carolina chooses a federal senator who will vote on legislation and nominations and participate in treaty decisions. These disclosures establish neither donor influence nor a winner. Use the FEC guidance to inspect the records; compare later regular reports under matching periods. [3] [5]

What remains open.

  • The selected notices are not complete fundraising totals, and no total-resource ranking is supported.
  • The returned search records do not establish zero contributions for Bray or Dublin; later filings or amended records may change the comparison.
  • This finance account does not compare candidate policy platforms or calculate chamber-control odds.

A corrected original, material new record, amendment, changed service availability or contrary evidence affecting these claims would reopen the account. Preserve this version and date any material revision.
