As of 2026-11-03 · Publication details
November 3, 2026 · Beyond the ordinary 7:30 p.m. Eastern close · extra minutes
Five named North Carolina precincts in the November 3, 2026 decision; all closing times Eastern. Bars show extra minutes beyond the ordinary 7:30 p.m. close. They do not measure voters, turnout, delays observed by us or every precinct in a county. Arrivals after 7:30 p.m. at these sites vote provisionally, according to the board.

Yes. North Carolina’s election board announced extensions at five precincts in four counties on November 3. South Williams in Tabor City closes latest, at 8:15 p.m. Eastern. The other four close at 7:45, 7:55 or 8 p.m. Only the named sites have these extensions; use the official list below. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

The reporting question: Which North Carolina precincts officially have extra voting time?
The five sites and their closing times
In Columbus County, South Williams–Tabor City Courthouse, 110 W Fourth St., Tabor City, closes at 8:15 p.m. In Hertford, Como Fire and Rescue Building, 1201 U.S. 258 North, closes at 7:55 p.m.; Murfreesboro 1–Murfee Center, 201 E. Broad St., closes at 8 p.m. In Lenoir, K8 Holloway Recreation Center, 100 N. Myrtle Avenue, Kinston, closes at 8 p.m. In Wilson, Wilson City Recreation Building, 500 Sunset Road, closes at 7:45 p.m. All times are Eastern on November 3. These are individual precinct extensions, not countywide later hours. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
Arriving after 7:30 means a provisional vote
The board says voters arriving after 7:30 p.m. at the extended sites will cast provisional votes. That arrival condition matters: it does not say every voter already in line must vote provisionally. The general state guidance says people in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. can vote. Check your assigned site and follow election officials’ instructions. [7] [10]
The final list differs from the agenda
Our earlier report described a tentative meeting agenda, not an approved extension. The board has now issued a written decision announcing five sites. In Wilson, that decision names Wilson City Recreation Building; the earlier agenda named Wells School and Vinson-Bynum Elementary School. Use the adopted list for these extensions. The records inspected do not explain this difference or establish a decision on every omitted proposal. [1] [9]
Statewide results must wait
The board says it will not publish any unofficial results statewide until all polls are closed and expects first results around 8:15 p.m. Eastern. That is an approximate expectation, not evidence of an actual release or a promised delivery time. Its general reporting timeline also warns that extensions affect the schedule. No vote totals, projection or certification are reported here. [8] [11]
How we verified this update
We captured and read the board’s November 3 written announcement, its complete adopted precinct list, the earlier agenda and current general guidance. The announcement links a meeting recording, but the installed capture adapter refused that video URL; we did not inspect playback or transcribe motions. This account rests on the official written decision. Open it for exact sites and addresses, and check the responsible election office for any later change. [1] [9]

What remains open.
- The commissioned MP4 falls outside the installed approved capture path and video content-type/size contract. The failed attempt is retained; no recording bytes, playback, motion transcript or vote tally inspected. The official written decision independently supplies all five adopted sites and closing times.
- The written decision does not explain each specific disruption or why the adopted Wilson site differs from the tentative list. No misconduct or rejected motion inferred.
- Actual implementation, affected-voter numbers and time of first results publication remain unverified. All source/results-activation holds remain.
- No rights-cleared current polling-place photograph located in the actual Commons searches; selected archive town frame provides locality context only.
A later official extension, correction, court order or stay, changed precinct instruction or actual results-publication record requires a new retained exact-source review. A fingerprint or schedule alone does not establish it.
