North Rim scenic roads are due to close at sunset today
Cape Royal and Point Imperial roads are scheduled to close at sunset today until sunrise November 3, NPS says. The wider North Rim has a separate weather-dependent opening, while major inner-canyon routes remain closed. Check the exact road, trail and services before traveling. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Understand the story.
The road has its own calendar
The scenic-road closure is due to start at sunset October 15 for repairs. It applies to Cape Royal and Point Imperial roads, with reopening scheduled for sunrise November 3. It is not a statement that the whole North Rim has already closed. [1]
Open rim does not mean open trail
The North Rim is listed open through November 30 or the first major snowstorm. The North Kaibab route to Phantom Ranch, Phantom Ranch itself and both named river bridges are on the closed list. A conditional reopening paragraph in the FAQ does not override that list. [2] [3]
Plan the services too
October 15 is the last listed campground day. NPS lists no overnight lodging, closed seasonal fuel pumps and no campground water or hookups. If today’s trip depends on water or supplies, verify availability before setting out; the adjacent store is also listed only through October 15. [2] [4]
