North Carolina’s election board called a 2 p.m. Eastern emergency meeting to consider voting-hour extensions. Its tentative agenda names seven precincts in six counties, plus unspecified precincts in Hertford. The notice does not approve extra time. The reporting question: Which North Carolina precincts are on the emergency voting-hours agenda?

Consideration is not approval

The board’s November3 notice schedules a remote meeting for 2 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Central). Extending voting hours is the substantive item on its tentative agenda. That makes the notice useful to voters in the named places, but it supplies no approved new closing time and does not establish that the meeting has occurred. [1] [9]

Find the listed precinct, not just the county

The seven individually named entries are South Williams in Columbus; 04-North Sunbury in Gates; K8 in Lenoir; Boone 2 in Watauga; 102 in Wilkes; and PRWM and PRWJ in Wilson. The official notice provides each location and address. Hertford is separately described as multiple precincts without names or a count. The agenda may change and additional precincts may be considered. A county appearing here does not put every precinct in it under an approved extension. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Use the published hours while checking for an actual order

The board’s general guidance gives ordinary Election Day hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eastern and says voters in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. can vote. Do not delay voting on the assumption that this proposed consideration grants more time. A later operative local extension would need its own official record; it is not established by the agenda. [10] [9]

Follow the public notice for the next record

Any member of the public may observe through the Webex or phone route in the notice. It also links meeting materials as they become available. We inspected the notice, not live playback or a completed decision. Open the original for exact precinct addresses and current materials, and use your responsible election office for instructions affecting your ballot. [11] [9]
